Mr. Paul R. Dupee, Jr. pledged $1,550,000 to the MBL General Endowment and the Annual Fund.

The National Science Foundation awarded $1 million for "ABI Innovation: Collaborative Research: A Global Names Architecture as a cyberinfrastructure for biological research [Year 1 of 2-year award, PI, D. Patterson]

The National Institutes of Health awarded $1 million for "Infrared Photoactivation of Inner-Ear Hair Cells." [Year 1 of 3-year award, PI, R. Rabbit]

The National Institutes of Health awarded $624,514 for "Microbial Community Profiles Identify New Indicators of Waterborne Pathogens." [Year 1 of 4-year award, PI, M. Sogin]

The National Science Foundation awarded $411,492 for "The Seasonal Cycle of Export Production in an Antarctic Coastal Marine Ecosystem." [Year 1 of 3-year award, PI, H. Ducklow]

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund awarded $300,000 to support the MBL Molecular Mycology course.

The Davis Educational Foundation granted $263,994 to the Semester in Environmental Science for equipment and operating expenses.

The National Science Foundation awarded $227,820 for "Collaborative Research: Ecological homogenization of urban America." [Year 1 of 4-year award, PI, C. Neill]

Drs. Gerald and Ruth Fischbach pledged $200,000 in support of the Fischbach Scholarship Fund, the Bioethics Falmouth Forum Lecture, and the Annual Fund.

Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. Robertson, Jr. made a gift of $200,000 in support of the Charles and Patricia Robertson Ecosystems Institutional Fund.

Genentech Foundation granted $150,000 to support the Graduate Education Program in Neurosciences.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brakeman pledged $105,000 to the Director’s Discretionary Fund and the Annual Fund.

Drs. Jane Maienschein and Richard Creath pledged $95,000 to create an endowed Friday Evening Lecture in the History and Philosophy of Science.

Dr. and Mrs. John W. Rowe made a gift of $50,000 to the Annual Fund.
