New Hot Spot for Wireless Internet in Woods Hole
MBL Announces Free Wireless Access in Waterfront Park
WOODS HOLE, MAJust in time for summer, the MBL (Marine Biological Laboratory), has announced a new wireless Internet "hot spot" that serves all of Waterfront Park on Water Street in Woods Hole with free Internet service. The network is free and open to the public and can be accessed by connecting to "Waterfront Park" when searching for available wireless networks.
The MBL recently upgraded all of its buildings as well as all on and off-campus housing with wireless Internet service. In doing so, they extended the network to the park, a popular lunchtime destination for people who work in Woods Hole, as well as village residents and tourists. Most people now carry their laptops with them and you never know when a creative scientific idea will hit that needs to be published to a blog or some traveler needs an updated plane or boat schedule from the web, says Cathy Norton, MBL Information Technology Director. The MBL is delighted to supply this wireless service to our scientific community as well as those who enjoy the park.
The MBL is an international, independent, nonprofit institution dedicated to improving the human condition through creative research and education in the biological, biomedical and environmental sciences. Founded in 1888 as the Marine Biological Laboratory, the MBL is the oldest private marine laboratory in the Western Hemisphere. For more information, visit www.mbl.edu.
