Jane Maienschein, MBL Adjunct Scientist, Center for Library and Informatics, named 2010 Arizona Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Erick Mata Selected as Executive Director of Encyclopedia of Life.

Michael Shribak and James LaFountain were awarded the “Special Award for Technical Merit” and three Honorable Mentions in recent Olympus BioScapes International Digital Imaging Competition (2010).

The MBLWHOI Library and the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL) received the Thackray Medal Award for contributions to the history of natural history.

Gerald Weissmann received the "Master Educator and Mentor” Award in October on NYU School of Medicine’s ‘Dean’s Day’ (see below). He was also appointed chair of the jury of the First Prix Galien International ever held in the USA. In September he gave the Prix Galien Pro Bono humanitarian award to the UN's UNITAID and to the Clinton Foundation.
