Colorful Squid invade the Gift Shop
The MBL Associates Gift Shop continues to find great new products for the shop, while keeping a solid core of our proven winners. This season we’re offering a new tee shirt design by graphic artist Leslie McGuirk, who has designed several of our most popular tees. Her new design is of a colorful squid, available in blue for adults and red and blue for children from toddler up. Come by and see our new MBL designs on tees, sweatshirts and hats, as well as new stuffed animals, books, and toys. Our hours for July and August are Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM, Sundays from Noon to 4:30 PM. For more information contact the shop at 508-289-7230 during business hours.
Annual Meeting & Brunch and Student Picnic
The MBL Associates held their Annual Meeting & Brunch on Sunday, June 25th. Despite the rain, more than 100 people braved the weather to hear updates on the many successful Associates outreach programs (including our Coffee and Conversations, Family Science Movie, and the Falmouth Forum) as well as the awards, endowments, scholarships and fellowships which are funded through the generosity and efforts of the Associates. The food was delicious and plentiful, many friends were reunited for the first time this summer, and for many, this yearly event announces that “the season” may now begin!
The annual picnic for international students was held the same day, from 5 to 7 PM in the MBL Club. This relaxed meal is offered as a welcome to students often new to the U.S. as well as the MBL. Over sixty students shared a dinner of lasagna, salad, desserts and drinks with MBLA board members, and more importantly, with students in other courses whom they don’t often interact with on a regular basis.
