Marcia Donovan

Marcia Donovan
Assistant to the Director

Marcia is a member of the Outreach Committee of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Falmouth. Committee members help coordinate and volunteer for community programs, such as Overnights of Hospitality for homeless individuals, the Walk for the Homeless, and local Habitat for Humanity building projects. As an Outreach Committee member, Marcia volunteers at the church’s popular Strawberry Festival, which takes place on the third weekend of June each year. Strawberries from Tony Andrews Farm are picked by volunteers and used to make homemade jam and strawberry shortcake. Proceeds from the Festival go to a variety of local charitable organizations, including, but not limited to, the Falmouth Service Center, Habitat for Humanity, Penikese Island School, Independence House, Carriage House and a local Boy Scout troop sponsored by St. Barnabas.

For many years Marcia has also been associated with the Friends of Falmouth Dogs, a rescue and shelter facility located on Blacksmith Shop Road in East Falmouth. In addition to grooming, walking, and feeding the dogs, volunteers spend time socializing the dogs, helping to maintain the facility, and assisting with the adoption process. In the past, she and her family have adopted two abandoned dogs that have become wonderful family members. Marcia also participates in a yearly walk for the MSPCA to raise funds for their shelter in Centerville. This year’s walk will take place on May 15.

Marcia began work at the MBL in 1989 as a Human Resources Assistant and has worked in the Director’s Office since 1998.
Lionel Hall

Lionel Hall
Purchasing Supervisor

When it comes to his volunteer endeavors, Lionel’s philosophy is that even if he helps one person, it’s worth it. For nearly 20 years, Lionel has been a member of the Woods Hole Black History Month Committee. For five of those years, he served as Chairman. When he’s not working at the MBL, or as a master of ceremonies for 2-Way Entertainment, Lionel also volunteers on the Town of Falmouth’s Affirmative Action Committee and its Community Relations Focus Group. “Our goal is to be a guiding body for the Falmouth police department on issues such as racial profiling,” says Lionel, who is also active in the Town’s No Place for Hate program, a newer offshoot of the Affirmative Action Committee. “When people look at affirmative action, they tend to think just of job and race issues,” he explains. “But it’s more.” The Affirmative Action Committee received grant money that helped create a handicap-accessible playground at Teaticket Elementary School, and has worked with the Town of Falmouth to get rental properties abandoned by landlords cleaned up. Most recently, Lionel has become a part the Bright Futures Program, a mentoring program at Falmouth High School that aims to expose young men of color to positive black role models. “We’re trying to get them information to let them know that there’s hope, options, and assistance that they might not otherwise be aware of,” Lionel explains. He thinks so much of the program he even hired one of the high school students he mentored to work for him in the Purchasing Department last summer.

Lionel started working at the MBL in 1986. His first job was in the Shipping and Receiving Department.
Pam Oldham

Pam Oldham
Coordinator of Conferences & Meetings

Pam organizes BMX (bicycle motor cross) racing clinics for children and adults, including clinics held at the Otis Air National Guard Base, as a volunteer for Bizzarro Racing. Pam handles all clinic registrations, publicity, and coordinates tent setup and other logistics at the venue. The clinics aim to give riders tips on how to better race, how to keep their bikes maintained, and how to stay motivated. “It’s becoming a popular sport,” says Pam. “BMX Racing has been added to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.” Pam’s fiancé has been BMX racing since he was 14 and owns a national team. While Pam says she has a bike and all of the other gear necessary for racing, she’s hasn’t raced herself…yet.

For more information about Bizzarro Racing and the clinics Pam organizes, visit www.bizzarroracing.com.

Pam came to the MBL in 1999 to work as an Administrative Assistant in the CASSLS program. She joined the Housing and Conferences department in 2001.
