More 10-year employees!
It seems, after more careful scrutiny that, in addition to the ten staff members recognized at the State of the MBL address, there are five more employees who have served the MBL over the past ten years. Please take the time to thank and congratulate these following dedicated members of the MBL community:

• Deb Deering, housing coordinator
• Susan Joslin, associates liaison
• Homer Lane, chief financial officer
• Rick Langill, POM machinist
• Don Settlemire, POM supervisor

And as you see them around campus please give them a round of applause!

Benefits Update

Change the way you think about retirement

You may know that MetLife provides voluntary car and homeowner insurance benefits to MBL employees. What you may not know is that MetLife also provides complimentary educational programs on a variety of topics. One of the programs offered is called Retirewise®, designed to help you get ready for retirement. Whether your retirement is right around the corner or years away, this four-part seminar series can help you take a detailed look at what to expect and how to prepare for it.

In each two-hour seminar, professional financial planners will cover topics such as: the principles of money; creating and protecting wealth; establishing your retirement income stream; and making the most of what you have. The Retirewise series covers both financial and non-financial topics to help you prepare for a balanced retirement and is best suited for those people with little to moderate knowledge of retirement issues and who are starting to make plans many years from now to about 10 years out. The seminar series will be limited to 20 people, and spouses or significant others are invited to participate. The series will be held from 4 to 6 PM, once a week from late April into May. This is not a sales seminar series and it is hoped it will complement the educational information MBL receives from TIAA/CREF or other sources. The first seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, from 4 to 6 PM in the MBL Club.

Retirewise® is a program of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, New York, NY 10166

Inauguration Celebration

On January 20, a group of MBL employees, Associates, and Woods Hole friends gathered in the Meigs Room to watch the historic inauguration of Barack Obama. CNN’s live stream was projected onto a large screen for
the packed crowd. The atmosphere in the room was one of excitement, unity, and awe as the crowd witnessed the swearing in of our
country’s 44th president.
