Holiday Update

Save the Date! The cold in the air and snow in parts of Massachusetts reminds us that it’s almost the holiday season. This year the annual December event will be a Holiday Reception for the MBL community held on Thursday, December 18th from 4 to 6 PM. Mark your calendar and save the date. More information will be coming out in early December.

Bill Speck has announced that MBL will be closed December 25 and 26 and January 1 and 2. Happy Holidays!

Construction Update

Sea WallThe MBL is rebuildling the second section of the Eel Pond sea wall and shoring up the parking lot. (The first section was completed three years ago.) The newly rebuilt section of the parking lot — from the north part of Lillie to the Collection Support Faclity — will be less pitched and less likely to cause flood. Upon completion, the parking lot will be repaved and remarked.

Funding for the project is provided by the wireless communications companies that rent roof space from the MBL.

Please welecome the following new employees:

Sara Goetz, Assistant to the Director of Education, Education Department
Yuki Kagawa, Postdoctoral Scientist, Rudolf Oldenbourg's Lab
Torsten Ochsenreiter, Postdoctoral Scientist, Josephine Bay Paul Center

Congratulations to:

Cindy MacDonald, who was promoted to Front Office Assistant, Housing and Conferences
