MBL Dedicates Rowe Laboratory
The former Whitman Building was officially rededicated the Rowe Laboratory on August 3, 2007 in recognition of the historic $5 million capacity-building gift made to the MBL in 2006 by Chairman of the Board John W. Rowe and his wife Valerie. The newly-renovated, 34,000 square foot, state-of-the-art laboratory opened its doors on schedule this spring, welcoming 110 Principal Investigators and an additional 184 scientists and students from 146 institutions and 16 countries to new laboratories. The Rowe Laboratory is home to the Whitman Center, the MBLs international visiting research program.
Remarks were made by MBL Director & CEO, Gary Borisy, MBL Whitman Center Director Robert Goldman, and MBL Chairman of the Board (and Rowe Laboratory donor) Jack Rowe. The event concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house.
