MBL Celebrates Avram Hershko's Nobel Prize
The MBL community gathered on the afternoon of July 12th to honor Avram Hershko and celebrate his recent Nobel Prize in Chemistry. After remarks by Bill Speck, Whitman Center director Bob Goldman, and Whitman investigator Bob Palazzo, Avram expressed his appreciation for the MBL and its staff. The following is an excerpt from his remarks:
My wife, Judy, and I keep coming back to the MBL every summer for the great scientific environment. This is created not only by the scientists, but also by the people who provide such a great support for the work of scientists at the MBL. These are people in housing, dining, stockroom, purchasing and many other important services, too many to list here. All these people are providing tremendous help to the scientists and they all became our very good friends. It was very touching to see how happy and proud all our good friends in the MBL community are about this Nobel prize. Judy and I are very thankful to all our good friends in the MBL community for this warm and beautiful celebration.
