James Aiken, M.D., Louisiana State University Health Science Center
Dr. James Aiken is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Public Health at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center and Medical Director for Emergency Preparedness at the Medical Center of Louisiana. He has over 20 years experience in healthcare disaster management.
In his Falmouth Forum lecture, Dr. Aiken will discuss New Orleans metropolitan healthcare preparation and response experience during Hurricane Katrina. Hell also review the hurricane preparation efforts leading to the citys response to the Hurricane Gustav threat as a result of lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina. Using his own experiences, Dr. Aiken will explain the enduring lessons learned and human factors observed during both experiences.
Admission to this Falmouth Forum presentation is free and open to the public. A buffet dinner is available before the lecture at 6:00 p.m. in the Swope Center located near the auditorium. Dinner tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance at either Eight Cousins Children’s Books, Main Street, Falmouth, or at the MBL’s Communications Office in the Candle House in Woods Hole. Dinner seats are limited and tickets are only available until they sell out or until 5:00 on the Tuesday before the lecture.
