Copyright and Citation

MMER papers are copyrighted, and all copyright regulations are applicable. Material cannot be reprinted or reused on-line unless written permission has been granted by the publisher. When used as a source in other publications, MMER papers should be cited in the manner indicated on their Title Page.

Design of MMER Papers

MMER papers are constructed in levels of increasing detail. Initial access yields a "Title Page" (Level 1) containing the Abstract. A linked Table of Contents (Level 2) then provides direct access to all other sections. The "Body" (Level 3) presents essential information in concise form with linked "Appendices" (Level 4) providing working methodological details and ancillary material not usually available in printed papers. All sections of a paper contain an upper line (header) with clickable links to its Title Page and Table of Contents as well as to the MMER and Biological Bulletin Publications Home Pages, permitting rapid movement within or among papers.

Printing MMER Papers

To print a hard copy, use the print option found in the menu of most browsers. Netscape users can print the page(s) in the active file by using the Netscape Print button or by selecting the Print option from the pull-down File menu. The text and figures are sized to fit well on an 8.5 x 11 inch page. Gray-scale printing is needed for many figures (halftone and color photos or micrographs), for which relatively inexpensive ink-jet printers do quite well when used in their "highest quality" mode.
